What is facelift (rhytidectomy)?

Facelift is the process of strengthening and lifting the face tissue that loses its tightness in time, removing excess skin and eliminating wrinkles and giving the face a young and lively appearance. In this surgery, cheeks, eye area, eyebrows, nose, forehead, neck and chin are considered as a whole. Providing a younger and more dynamic appearance, facelift surgery provides successful, permanent and aesthetic results.

What to know about facelift surgery:

  • Give up smoking and alcohol at least one week before the surgery.
  • Give up blood thinner medicines at least one week before the surgery.
  • The physician must be informed beforehand about medicines that must be regularly used.
  • Do not eat after 12 at night one day before the surgery, make sure you are hungry when you get to the hospital.
  • Facelift surgery takes nearly 4 hours.
  • No pain is felt since the surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
  • The person will stay at the hospital only for 1 night after the surgery.
  • All bandages are removed in 3 days and all stitches are removed 7 days after the surgery.
  • The person can continue their daily life 10 days after the surgery.
  • Avoid heavy exercises and sports that may cause impact to face for the first few weeks after the surgery.
